Siege Turtle: two seats and a pair of cannons

The End of Dragons turtle carries a passenger and shoots. The hard part is the egg: either beat the toughest meta in the game, or pay 200 Writs of Dragon's End and skip it.

The Siege Turtle sits apart from the rest of the roster. It is slow, ungainly and not about travel at all. Its point is two things: a second seat and cannons.

The passenger rides behind and fires while the driver steers. In the open world that is mostly entertainment, but in some End of Dragons content the turtle becomes a tool.

What you need

The End of Dragons expansion, with the story played to roughly chapter ten.

The hard part is the egg.

Nothing starts without a Turtle Egg, and there are two ways to one. They are not equally pleasant.

Route one: the meta “The Battle for the Jade Sea” on Dragon’s End. This is the hardest open-world meta in the game. Success depends less on you than on whether the map has an organised squad, whether people know the mechanics and whether the damage is there. A failure costs you an hour.

Route two: buy it. The Peddler sells the egg for 200 Writs of Dragon’s End. Writs come from activities on the same map and accumulate quietly, with no dependence on anyone else’s organisation.

Advice: do not chase a successful meta if that format is not your thing. 200 Writs pile up in the background over a few visits, and your evening survives. The meta is worth doing for its own sake, but as a mandatory step towards a mount it has been grinding people down for years.

Then the collections

With the egg in hand, go to Arborstone and find an NPC called Rota. That opens Stomping Around and three collections in sequence:

  1. Turtle Unlock: Starting Small
  2. Turtle Unlock: Getting Stronger
  3. Turtle Unlock: Suiting Up

Item trading runs through Fidget, also in Arborstone.

The collections come down to gathering materials and completing tasks on the expansion maps. No time gates, so the only limit is your own schedule.

How the two seats divide the work

The turtle is the only mount in the game where two players hold different controls, and the split is sharper than most people expect.

The driver steers and fights up close. Slam leaps forward and knocks enemies back. Jump Jets are held to hover and burn anything underneath. There is also Stealth, which hides both rider and mount, and Open or Restrict Access, which decides whether a stranger can climb aboard.

The gunner runs the artillery. Turtle Siege launches an explosive shot that burns on impact. Hunker Down converts incoming damage into ammunition, and Overdrive boosts the turtle’s acceleration, top speed and turning.

🔴 The mechanic that ties them together: ammunition accrues from movement, and moving fast generates it faster. A parked turtle is a turtle that stops shooting. The driver is not a taxi; the driver is the gunner’s ammo supply.

Both riders stay mounted through waypoints, which makes the turtle unusually practical for travelling together.

The mastery track

Six tiers, 5,715,000 experience in total, paying 20 mastery points along the way (how masteries work).

  • Turtle Health Boost takes base health from 40,000 to 60,000
  • Slam Mastery generates ammunition when Slam connects, which lets a solo driver keep the gun fed
  • Improved Jump Jets for better hovering
  • Power Shell converts incoming damage into ammo
  • 🔴 Sharing Is Caring applies the health boost to every other mount you own

That last tier is worth the whole track on its own, and like the warclaw’s Well Rested, it is a global mount upgrade hidden inside a single mount’s progression.

Who wants one

If you play with someone this is the whole argument. One drives, one shoots, and no other mount does that.

If you run End of Dragons content it belongs there.

If you want to get around look elsewhere. The turtle is slow and climbs badly. Roads belong to the Roller Beetle; height belongs to the Springer and the Skyscale.

So it is not a “move faster” mount but a separate toy for particular situations. Worth collecting once the useful ones are already parked.

The full roster is in the mount table.

Questions people ask

How do I get the Turtle Egg?

Either complete The Battle for the Jade Sea meta in Dragon's End, or buy the egg from the Peddler for 200 Writs of Dragon's End.

Do I have to do the Dragon's End meta?

No, and most players should not. Writs accumulate from ordinary activity on the same map, which removes the dependency on a full organised squad succeeding.

What comes after the egg?

Talk to Rota in Arborstone for Stomping Around, then three collections in sequence. Item exchanges go through Fidget, also in Arborstone.

Is the siege turtle good for travelling?

No. It is slow and climbs badly. Its point is the second seat and the cannons, which makes it a tool for specific activities rather than transport.
