Season 4 picks up where Path of Fire ends and runs six episodes to the doorstep of End of Dragons. It is also where two of the game’s best mounts live.

The six episodes and their maps

Episode Map
Daybreak Domain of Istan
A Bug in the System Sandswept Isles
Long Live the Lich Domain of Kourna
A Star to Guide Us Jahai Bluffs
All or Nothing Thunderhead Peaks
War Eternal Dragonfall

🔴 All six maps use one currency: Volatile Magic. After Season 3 handed you six separate map currencies that could not talk to each other, this was the fix, and it is why Season 4 maps feel so much less fragmented to farm.

The two mounts

The roller beetle comes from Long Live the Lich, the third episode. It starts with Spearmarshal Zaeim in Domain of Kourna, costs no gold at all, and asks only for three collections. It is the fastest mount in the game on flat ground.

The skyscale needs the whole season, finishing at War Eternal and Dragonfall. There is now a shorter route through Secrets of the Obscure, and 🔴 that shorter route does not unlock the Season 4 mastery track, which contains Rift Repair, which the Vision legendary trinket requires. If a legendary trinket is in your future, you are doing these collections either way.

What the story is doing

An Elder Dragon has absorbed the power of a dead god, and the season is the chase that follows. Somewhere in the middle a lich crowns himself and takes command of an undead army, which is the part everybody remembers.

Structurally it is the mirror of Season 3: that season built up to a reveal, this one opens with the consequence already loose and spends six episodes running after it.

What these maps are worth now

Domain of Istan was the most farmed map in the game for a long stretch and still has one of the better metas for the time it takes.

Dragonfall is the finale map and remains busy, because the meta pays well and the map is built for large groups arriving at once.

Jahai Bluffs and Thunderhead Peaks are quieter and both hold collection steps you will need if you go for the skyscale the long way.

Because everything pays Volatile Magic, an evening spent anywhere in the season feeds the same pile, and that pile buys materials that are still worth checking on the market before you spend it.

If you own Path of Fire and skipped this season, the roller beetle alone is worth the episode. It costs nothing, it is the fastest thing in the game, and it is sitting three episodes into a story you already paid for.

Questions people ask

Which episode unlocks the roller beetle?

Long Live the Lich, the third episode, which adds Domain of Kourna. The unlock starts with Spearmarshal Zaeim there.

Which episode unlocks the skyscale?

The skyscale collections need the whole season, finishing with War Eternal and Dragonfall. The shorter route through Secrets of the Obscure exists but skips the Season 4 mastery track.

What currency do Season 4 maps use?

All six maps use Volatile Magic, unlike Season 3 where every map had its own currency.

Do I need Path of Fire for Season 4?

Yes. Season 4 continues directly from Path of Fire and its episodes require that expansion.
